The Favourite is an upcoming British-Irish-American biographical historical film directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, from a screenplay by Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara. It stars Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, Olivia Colman, Nicholas Hoult and Joe Alwyn.

Production
In September 2015, it was announced Emma Stone, Olivia Colman and Kate Winslet had been cast in the film, with Yorgos Lanthimos directing from a screenplay by Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara, while Ceci Dempsey, Ed Guiney, Lee Magiday, and Andrew Lowe would serve as producers under their Scarlet Films and Element Pictures banners, respectively.[1] In October 2015, Rachel Weisz joined the cast of the film, replacing Winslet.[2] In February 2017, Nicholas Hoult joined the cast of the film.[3] In March 2017, Joe Alwyn joined the cast of the film.[4]
Filming
Principal photography began in March 2017 at Hatfield House, Hertfordshire.[5][6]
Release
In May 2017, Fox Searchlight Pictures acquired distribution rights to the film.[7]
