The Ark Church
The Ark Church in York, England, is a Mainstream, Orthodox and Evangelical Christian Church that is Charismatic or Pentecostal in nature. It describes itself as committed to cooperation with other churches. The church was founded in 2003. The Ark church has a clear vision statement and purpose which is summarized in the Blueprint.
Relationships
The Ark works with One Voice in York, a cooperative group of churches in the city of York. In 2015, 62 churches in York took part in the One Voice programme.
The Ark works nationally as part of the Ground Level network and is a group member of the Evangelical Alliance.
The Ark has a website www.arkchurch.co.uk which communicates with up to 20,000 visitors per month.
Services
The Ark is committed to the Internet and the church’s main website has thousands of pages. Its website offers message downloads, the popular ‘Fast Food’ column, and many feature articles and book reviews.
The church offers a contemporary worship style. Prayer and the centrality of the Bible are fundamental to the life of the Ark Church.
It involves itself in the community and to particular groups where there is some connection or expertise.
The church hosted York's biggest gospel and soul event in 2015, an Andrae Crouch Tribute Concert, which attracted considerable attention from the UK gospel community and beyond, including MOBO.[1]
Leadership
Minister and author of "At Least It's Not Raining – One Family's Fight with Childhood Cancer," Stephen Redman, has written for Christian magazines and contributes daily to the website. He is a popular speaker in churches and on local radio. Stephen has a master's degree in Theology, is an ordained presbyter of the Order of St Leonard and carries credentials from the Ground Level Network. He also speaks for Candlelighters, the childhood cancer charity of which he is chairman.[2] In addition Redman serves on the board of One Voice.
International singer/songwriter Libby Redman[3] served for 10 years as Musical & Creative Director before accepting the role of Assistant Pastor.[4] Libby's first degree is in Theology.
