The Adroit Journal

The Adroit Journal is an American literary magazine founded in 2010.[1] It is published on a quarterly basis in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania by founding editor Peter LaBerge, in collaboration with the Kelly Writers House at the University of Pennsylvania. Since its founding, it has received over 45,000 submissions.

Contributors

Authors featured in The Adroit Journal include Terrance Hayes, Franny Choi, Ned Vizzini, Alex Dimitriov, Lydia Millet, Chen Chen, Ocean Vuong, Danez Smith, Fatimah Ashgar, Jennifer K. Sweeney, Richard Lyons, Randall Mann, Brynne Rebele-Henry, and Hieu Minh Nguyen.[2]

Awards

Pieces from the magazine have been selected for inclusion in Best New Poets[3], The Best American Nonrequired Reading[4], Best of the Net[5], and more. Pieces have also been awarded the Pushcart Prize.[6]

The Adroit Mentorship Program

The Adroit Journal’s Summer Mentorship Program is a free, online program that pairs experienced writers with high school and secondary students. Mentees have been recognized through the National YoungArts Foundation & United States Presidential Scholar in the Arts designation, the National Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, and the Foyle Young Poet of the Year Awards. Participants have also been featured in Teen Vogue[7] and NPR, among other publications.
