Player of the Year Award
Awarded for Texas League's Regular Season Player of the Year
Country United States
First awarded 1931
Currently held by Matt Chapman

The Texas League Player of the Year Award is an annual award given to the best player in minor league baseball's Texas League. In 1931, Dizzy Dean won the first ever Texas League Player of the Year Award.

First basemen, with 19 winners, have won the most among infielders, followed by third basemen (16), second basemen (7), and shortstops (6). Two catchers have also won the award. Thirty outfielders have won the Player of the Year Award, the most of any position. A total of five pitchers have won the award. The Texas League established a Pitcher of the Year Award in 1933. The five pitchers who won Player of the Year Awards won the honor before its creation and during two periods in which the pitcher's award was not given.[1]

Eight players each from the California Angels/Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim and St. Louis Cardinals Major League Baseball (MLB) organizations have won the Player of the Year Award, more than any other, followed by the Brooklyn/Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Colt .45's/Astros organizations (7); the St. Louis Browns/Baltimore Orioles and Milwaukee Brewers organizations (6); the New York/San Francisco Giants and Oakland Athletics organizations (5); the Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals, and San Diego Padres organizations (4); the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets organizations (3); the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees organizations (2); and the Arizona Diamondbacks, Chicago White Sox, Colorado Rockies, Philadelphia Phillies, Seattle Mariners, and Texas Rangers organizations (1). Five players won the award on teams that were not affiliated with a major league team.
