Tell Me (Groove Theory song)
"Tell Me" is a 1995 song by the duo, Groove Theory. The duo consisted of vocalist Amel Larrieux and producer Bryce Wilson. It reached its peak of #5 on the Hot 100, and was the 65th and 58th most successful song on the American pop charts in 1995 and 1996 respectively. The song was the duo's biggest international success. It was a hit in Australia, peaking at #6 on ARIA singles chart for three weeks in February 1996.[4] "Tell Me" was certified gold in Australia,[5] and was placed at #55 on the highest-selling singles of 1996 Australian chart.[5] The single also peaked at #31 in the UK,[6] and #14 in New Zealand.[7]
Music video
The music video directed by Hype Williams begins with Amel Larrieux and Bryce Wilson in a recording studio. Amel is singing into the microphone, whilst Bryce is producing behind the studio panel. In other scenes, Amel bops in front a city skyline. In between scenes are transitional shots, which feature either the face of Amel singing or Bryce nodding.
AXSHN version
On June 9, 2017, production group AXSHN released a version of the song featuring Mexican singer Sofia Reyes.[8] Erica Russell from PopCrush described it as a "throbbing tropical dance banger". The reviewer also highlighted Reyes' voice, writing "Sofia's smooth, sultry vocals beckon to the dance floor like the reflection of the moon sparkling against the Caribbean Sea".[9]
