TECNO Mobile is a Chinese mobile phone manufacturer. The company began operations in July 2006 in Hong Kong. With its first research and development centre in Shanghai, China, TECNO Mobile was founded as TECNO Telecom Limited, but later changed its name to TRANSSION Holdings with TECNO Mobile serving as one of its subsidiaries. TECNO focused its business on Africa and the South Asian market. However, following market research conducted in Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America, the company found that Africa was the most lucrative region.[1] As a result of this, in 2008, it stopped doing business in Asia to exclusively focus on Africa. The TECNO Camon C8 helped the mobile phone manufacturer compete with market share of Samsung, and Apple in Africa.

History

2006 - TECNO TELECOM LIMITED was established, focusing on the research & development of mobile phones.

2007 - The company created a second brand itel and began making headway into the African market.

2008 - TECNO shifted its focus entirely to Africa following market research.

2010 - TECNO ascended into the top three mobile phone brands in Africa.[2]

2012 - TECNO released the first "Made in Ethiopia" smartphone

2013 - TECNO has a presence in 12 countries in Africa with an average market share of 20% in each country.[3]

2015 - The combined smart phone market share of Samsung, TECNO and Apple in Africa at 55% during Q1, 2015.[4]

2016 - TECNO Mobile Announced TECNO W4, “The First TECNO Smartphone To Run Android Marshmallow 6.0 Operating System” [5]

2016 - TECNO Mobile Launches "The Best Camera Smartphone In Africa"[6]

2016- TECNO mobile launched the T-Band smart watch this year, which is an innovative smart bracelet that can monitor your sleep patterns, receive call notifications, and also take photos on any TECNO smartphone running Android 6.0 Marshmallow.[7]

2016- In it Q3, TECNO launches the long-awaited and anticipated Flagship phone, the TECNO Phantom 6 & TECNO Phantom 6 Plus with a Bio-metric Authentications Security

2016 - TECNO Mobile Released TECNO W5, “known as TECNO W5 4G LTE"

2017 - TECNO Mobile Launches its first Dual Front Led Flash Device, The phone is dubbed TECNO Camon CX, Basic Tutorial On Applying Custom Fonts Is Well Described. [8]
