The Tata family is a prominent Indian business family, based in the Indian city of Mumbai. Members of the family are related to the Tata Sons, which is the main holding company of the Tata Group and holds the bulk of shareholding in these companies. The Tatas are a Parsi family who originally came to Mumbai from Navsari in the state of Gujarat. The founder of the family’s fortunes was Jamsetji Tata. The Tatas are the original founders of the Tata Sons associated with the Tata Group.

The Tata family is related to many Parsi families of Bombay, such as Wadia, Mistry and Petit family by marriage.
