Tanjong Pagar Single Member Constituency

Not to be confused with the present Tanjong Pagar Group Representation Constituency, which is much larger than this Tanjong Pagar Single Member Constituency (Tanjong Pagar SMC) by including its nearby towns such as Tiong Bahru etc.

Tanjong Pagar Single Member Constituency (Traditional Chinese: 丹戎巴葛單選區; Simplified Chinese: 丹戎巴葛单选区) was a former single-member constituency in Tanjong Pagar, Singapore from 1955 to 1991 and absorbed into Tanjong Pagar GRC.

It was one of the longest-surviving wards since the pre-independence era and it has been People's Action Party's stronghold where Lee Kuan Yew triumphed over his political opponents by wide margins.

Lee Kuan Yew was the longest serving Member of Parliament (MP) and politician, having served from 1955 until his death on 23 March 2015.

Members of Parliament

Constituency Abolished (1991 present)

(Still continues as a division of Tanjong Pagar in Tanjong Pagar GRC, but constituency abolished. However, presently in 2011 it had absorbed Tiong Bahru ward to become Tanjong Pagar-Tiong Bahru ward.)
