Tamizhaga Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (Tamilians Progressive Federation) is a political party in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. TMK was floated by All India Devendra Kula Velalar Sangam (a Deventhirar caste organization in Tamil Nadu) in 2000.
Organization
The party president is John Pandian,[2][3] a Devendra Kulla Vellalar leader.John Pandian was one of the founder members of Pattali Makkal Katchi.
Elections
In the 2001 Tamil Nadu state legislative assembly elections, TMK was allied with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam. TMK was allotted the Egmore seat, and Pandian stood as an AIADMK candidate there. Pandian was defeated by a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam candidate-Parithi Ilam Vazhuthi.
