Tamariani

Tamariani (Russian: Тамариани) — is a rural locality (aul) in Dzheyrakhsky District of the Republic of Ingushetia, Russia[1]. Tamariani is one of the 6 rural localities concluding Dzheyrakh rural settlement[2]. Tamariani has only one street named Vodnaya, which means aquatic in Russian, referring to its geographical positioning on the right embankment of the Terek river[3] .

History

The village was established by Georgian settlers after the deportation of the whole Chechen and Ingush population to the Central Asia and consequential abolishment of the Chechen-Ingush ASSR. After the Ingush population were allowed to return from the deportation, the Georgian inhabitants returned to Georgia.

The name Tamariani translates from Georgian "[the place] where Tamara was". A settlement with the same name exists in Georgia.
