Taj Television India Private Limited is a full-service television concern, based in Noida and in Mumbai with eight regional offices across the sub-continent. It was established in January 2001,[1] and is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sony Pictures Networks. In November 2006, ZEEL acquired Taj Television from Sharjah, UAE based Bukhatir Investments Ltd and in August, 2016 Sony Pictures Network India acquired TEN from ZEEL for 385 million.[2]

Currently, Taj Television is the holding company for Sony Pictures Sports network with channels like SONY TEN 1, SONY TEN 1 HD, SONY TEN 2, SONY TEN 3, SONY TEN Golf HD and TEN Sports Pakistan.

Broadcasting Business

As a broadcaster, Sony Pictures Sports Network owns broadcast rights for 5 cricket boards – South Africa, West Indies, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. It is packed with sports action throughout the year and holds exclusive broadcast rights to events related to Wrestling (WWE), Football (UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, French League, Capital One Cup), Tennis (US Open, WTA Event), Golf (European Tour, Asian Tour, Ryder Cup, US PGA Championship, LPGA Tour, PGTI and Golf Channel block), Athletics (Asian Games, Commonwealth Games), MotoGP, Tour de France, EFLI (American Football) and LFL.[3]

Taj Television maintains a dynamic transmission system, Harris Nexio AMP transmission system, combined with Harmonic compression, which can 'turn around' a broadcaster's signal to nearly anywhere in the world.

Taj can downlink from any number of satellites, modify the existing program stream, add interstitial, then encrypt and up-link to one of the space segments on the Intelsat10 satellite, the footprint of which spans London to Australia.

Television Production Business

Taj Television has digital studio facilities and integrated transmission services for broadcast clients such as DirecTV, ART, Starhub, City 7, Rotana and Yes Television PLC. Other channels that have been produced and distributed by Taj Television include Cricket Plus (in North America), ART Prime Sports in the Middle East, Football Channel in Singapore and Goal TV 1 and Goal TV 2 in Asia. In 2010, following the purchase of the company by ZEEL and changes in personnel, the agreements to produce Cricket Plus, the Football Channel and ART Prime Sports ended.

The facility features Sony & Ikegami cameras, Harris VelocityNX & Apple Final Cut Pro edit seats, Discreet 3D Studio Max and Alias Wavefront Maya graphics software and Snell & Wilcox mixers.

Taj Television Limited possesses two large, fully equipped state-of-the-art studios located at its premises at Noida Film City which cater to internal and external production demands. The studios can handle multi-set and audience set-ups, and have been constructed to meet high acoustic standards.
