Gameplay
Similar to Hang-On, Super Burnout is an arcade-style racing game using a behind the motorcycle perspective while the player races a linear race track. Unlike Hang-On however, the player is not put into a time limit to extend the gameplay. The game features four racing mode options to choose from:
Trainer Mode: Race against six computer-controlled opponents on the track of the player's choice.
Versus Mode: By plugging in a second controller on the system, another player can race against the first player in a head-to-head, split-screen racing match. In this mode the music during gameplay is disabled, leaving only the sound effects playing and each of the players can select their own controls and bikes.
Championship Mode: Race on all eight tracks against six opponents. The player start at the 7th position in the first race but depending on the player's performance, their starting position is their finishing point from the prior race.
Record Mode: The player races for the world record against the clock on a empty track from the player's selection.
Custom Sports Bikes
Super Burnout features a total of six motorcycles to choose from, each with their own advantages and disadvantages, plus a hidden seventh bike to unlock by typing 2, 1, 7, 9, 4 on the controller's keypad during the title screen:
