Stuart Gatehouse was an Australian man, aged 45, who disappeared from Kenilworth, Queensland on the 1 April 2004. Stuart remained missing for over 13 years, until his remains were recovered from Lake Borumba on the 20 April 2017.[1]

Stuart's remains were discovered sitting inside after his red 1986 Commodore was hauled from the lake's waters by police. The cause of Stuart's death is unknown, and police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Disappearance

Stuart was last seen alone near Kenilworth, Queensland on 1 April 2004. He was apparently planning to travel to the nearby city of Gympie, Queensland. It is currently unknown if Stuart's death was as a result of an intentional act, or if it occurred accidentally. Stuart's reason for traveling to the Borumba Dam is also unknown.

Discovery

On 20 April 2017, Stuart's submerged yet largely undamaged Commodore was pulled from the waters of the Borumba Dam. His skeletal remains were found inside the vehicle.
