Stefano Salvatori (born 29 December 1967 in Rome) is a retired Italian professional footballer who played as a central midfielder.

Career

A Milan youth product, Salvatori played for several clubs in Italy throughout his career, most notably the Milan senior side; after struggling to find space in the first team, he was initially sent on loan to lower division teams Virescit Boccaleone and Parma in order to gain experience and playing time. He made his Serie A debut with Fiorentina, where he played for three seasons in total, and briefly returned to Milan for a second spell with the club, during which he won the 1989 European Super Cup, and the European Cup in 1990. He was subsequently sold to SPAL, and later joined Atalanta, helping the latter club to win promotion to Serie A.

Salvatori later played abroad for Hearts in Scotland, and was a member of the side that beat Rangers in the 1998 Scottish Cup Final. He scored once during his spell at Hearts, in a 31 win at Dunfermline Athletic.[2]

After three seasons in Scotland, Salvatori returned to Italy, where he ended his career in the lower divisions with Alzano Virescit, AlbinoLeffe, and Legnano.
