State Route 208 is a numbered state highway in Maine. Serving as the main north–south connector between Biddeford Pool northwest to downtown Biddeford, State Route 208 is approximately seven miles long and two lanes wide. With the exception of its first 1.7 miles (2.7 km), State Route 208 runs concurrently with State Route 9.
In Maine, routes numbered in the 200s are primarily coastal route spurs. Route 208 is the most southerly route of this type in the state.
Route description
State Route 208 begins at the intersection of Lester B. Orcutt Boulevard and Mile Stretch Road at Biddeford Pool, Maine. From there, it continues, signed as northbound but travelling in a southwesterly direction along the outer peninsula that separates the Biddeford Pool from the Atlantic Ocean.
At the intersection of Mile Stretch Road and Bridge Road, State Route 208 turns northward meeting State Route 9 (Pool Street) near the Biddeford watertower.
State Routes 208 and 9 continue as a concurrent road north into downtown Biddeford. Along this stretch the road is still two lanes, but with a significantly wider shoulder. Speed limits range from 35–50 miles per hour approaching downtown Biddeford. State Route 208 reaches its northern terminus at the intersection of Alfred Street, Pool Street, and State Route 111.
