Star Trek Logs (book series)

Star Trek Logs is a series of short story anthologies edited by Alan Dean Foster and based on episodes from Star Trek: The Animated Series, published by Ballantine Books. The adaptations were released as ten volumes from 1974 to 1978. The series is noteworthy for the inclusion new and connecting story elements, written by Foster, creating a consistent narrative across all ten volumes.

The books have been reprinted numerous times since 1978, as individual volumes or collected in omnibus. The first omnibus releases were by Del Rey Books in 1993, each volume containing three of the original releases, with Log Ten excluded.

James Blish and J. A. Lawrence adapted episodes of the Star Trek television series, published by Bantam Books from 1967 until 1978.

Adaptations

Omnibus Editions

Del Rey released two sets of omnibus editions, first in 1993 which excluded Log Ten, and again in 1996 including all volumes. The 1996 editions were re-released by Random House as part of their discount line in 1998. In 1995, Pocket Books released omnibus editions in UK and Australia, collecting the volumes as two sets of three, with the final book containing the final four volumes.^[1] Most recently, Del Ray again reprinted the adaptations in five omnibus volumes, as part of Star Trek's 40th Anniversary celebrations. Included was a serialized essay by Alan Dean Foster.
