Star Plaza Theatre (formerly known as Holiday Star Theatre) is a live music venue located in Merrillville, Indiana. The theatre is a 3,400-seat intimate venue with two seating levels in a semicircle around the stage. The Main Floor Level seats 2,000 people, and the Mezzanine Level, which overhangs the main level about midway, seats 1,400. The furthest seat in the auditorium is 120 feet from the stage.
The Star Plaza Theatre was opened in December 1979 under the name Holiday Star Theatre. Charlie Blum is its President and CEO. (2009 International Entertainment Buyers Association)
Entertainers appearing here have included Christina Aguilera, Tony Bennett, Garth Brooks, Kenny Chesney, Sammy Davis, Jr., Jamie Foxx, Aretha Franklin, Bob Hope, Whitney Houston, Tom Jones, Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Liberace, Reba McEntire, Liza Minnelli, Wayne Newton, Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, Donna Summer, Tina Turner, ZZ Top and many more.
The Star Plaza Theatre and the Radisson Hotel will be closed and demolished by the end of Summer 2017.[1][2][3]
