St John Bosco College is a coeducational Roman Catholic secondary school and sixth form, located in the London Borough of Wandsworth, England.[1] the school is named after Saint John Bosco, an Italian priest, educator and writer of the 19th century, who dedicated his life to the betterment and education of street children, juvenile delinquents, and other disadvantaged youth.
Admissions
It is a voluntary aided school administered by Wandsworth London Borough Council, the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Southwark and the Salesians of Don Bosco. St John Bosco College offers GCSEs, BTECs and OCR Nationals as programmes of study for pupils.[2] Students in the sixth form have the option to study from a range of A Levels.[3]
History
Grammar school
Notre Dame High School for Girls, Battersea Park[4] was a girls' grammar school. Girls from the school were evacuated to Wales during the Second World War.[5] The former site of Notre Dame became the site of Clapham College in September 1985.
Comprehensive
Notre Dame High School for Girls transferred to John Paul II School.
Merger
The school was formed in 2011 from the merger of John Paul II School in Wimbledon and Salesian College in Battersea. St John Bosco College is currently located at the former John Paul II School site, but will relocate to the former Salesian College site once new buildings have been constructed.[6]
