The St. John's Cathedral [1][2] (Chinese: 聖若望主教座堂) is the name given to a religious building that is affiliated with the Catholic church, which is located on 62nd Street Minchuan, East District, Chiayi City, Taiwan.[3]

The current cathedral was built between 1957 and 1958. The temple follows the Roman or Latin rite and is the principal church of the diocese of Chiayi,[4] also written Kiayi or (Dioecesis Kiayiensis; 天主教嘉義教區) which was raised to its current status in 1962 by the bull "Cum Apostolica" by the Pope John XXIII.

The church is under the pastoral responsibility of the Bishop Thomas Chung An-zu. The building has been renovated several times especially after the earthquake that hit the island in 1964, by several floods and typhoons and a small fire that occurred in 1997.
