Spirit Lake is a natural lake in Kingsbury County, South Dakota, in the United States,[6] near the towns of Bancroft and De Smet.[7]
Some say the lake received its name on account of the area being an Indian burial ground, while others believe the name is a transfer from Spirit Lake, Iowa.[8]
In the media
The lake makes appearances in the series of books the Little House by Laura Ingalls Wilder.
