Southern Michigan Activities Association
The Southern Michigan Activities Association (SMAA) was an athletic conference for high schools located in southern Michigan. It was formed at the start of the 2005-2006 school year following the merger of the Southern Michigan Athletic Conference with the Tri-River Athletic Conference (TRAC).
History
The South Michigan Athletic Association was formed at the start of the 1982-1983 school year. The Tri-River Athletic Conference was later formed in the 2001-2002 school year. Albion, Hillsdale, and Parma Western left the Twin Valley Athletic Association; Brooklyn Columbia left the Lenawee County Athletic Association; and Stockbridge left the Ingham County League.
In 2005, the two conferences merged and split into two divisions: north and south. In 2008, the divisions were eliminated. The conference folded following the 2011-2012 school year.
