The Southern League Most Valuable Player Award (MVP) is an annual award given to the best player in minor league baseball's Southern League. In 1972, Mike Reinbach won the first ever Southern League MVP Award.

First basemen, with 11 winners, have won the most among infielders, followed by third basemen (4) and second basemen and shortstops (2). Seven catchers have also won the award. One player who won the award was a designated hitter. Nineteen outfielders have won the MVP Award, the most of any position.

Eight players from the Columbus Astros/Mudcats/Carolina Mudcats have been selected for the MVP Award, more than any other teams in the league, followed by the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx/Jackson Generals (6); the Huntsville Stars, Knoxville Smokies/Sox/Tennessee Smokies, and Memphis Chicks (5); the Orlando Twins/Montgomery Biscuits (4); the Birmingham Barons, Chattanooga Lookouts, and Jacksonville Expos/Suns (3); the Greenville Braves, Mobile BayBears, and Nashville Sounds (2); and the Asheville Tourists, Charlotte O's, and Montgomery Rebels (1).

Six players from the Chicago White Sox Major League Baseball (MLB) organization have won the MVP Award, more than any other, followed by the Houston Astros organization (4); the Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Oakland Athletics, and Tampa Bay Devil Rays/Rays organizations (3); the Arizona Diamondbacks, Atlanta Braves, Baltimore Orioles, Detroit Tigers, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins, Montreal Expos, New York Yankees, Pittsburgh Pirates, and Toronto Blue Jays organizations (2); and the Chicago Cubs, Florida Marlins, San Diego Padres, and Seattle Mariners organizations (1).
