The South American Birdwatching Fair is an annual event for birdwatchers, held every November at San Martin de los Andes in Patagonia, Argentina. It is described as the birder's principal meeting in this continent, with people from all the world.

A large number of suppliers of binoculars, cameras, books, clothing and other birdwatching equipment, plus artists and tour companies, display and sell their wares, and there are lectures, birding outings and trips, fellowship dinner and other attractions. Several workshops will be carried out in order to deepen and/or complement different items such as: migration, photography, ringing and to share actual knowledge among participants.Tourist operators out of South America shall the opportunity on the SABF to join and increase business on the principal market offer in this continent.

The first fair was held in 2010, based in the biggest Bird Fair in England (British Birdwatching Fair ). All the organisers' profits are donated to a Conservation Projects.

Organization

A group of leading figures in ornithology and birdwatching, make up the Assessor Committee, composed with: Tito Narosky (Argentina), Alvaro Jaramillo (Chile), Martha Algiers (Brazil), Sergio Ocampo Tobon (Colombia), Steve Sanchez Calle (Peru), and others. The Organizing Committee is chaired by Horacio Matarasso, and comprising an outstanding group of birdwatchers in the region.

Location

The Patagonia Argentina is one of the more interesting regions on South America, it is the converging area for three natural regions, each of them with its own birds and characteristic: Andean Forests, Patagonean Steppes and High Mountains, including wetlands and rural areas. The Birdwatching walks are complemented with pre and post-fair tours from 1 to 5 days each to some South American sites.

Ornithologists and bird watchers outstanding and the world of birds have been speakers at the fair, which has an Advisory Committee composed of personalities like Tito Narosky, Martha Argel, Alvaro Jaramillo, Steve Sánchez Calle and others.

Official Languages: Spanish, English and Portuguese.
