Sonika Simone Singh Chauhan(12th July 1989 - 29th April 2017) was a model, actor and a TV host. She was born on 12th July 1989 to a Christian mother, Sharon Singh Chauhan and a Hindu father, Vijay Singh Chauhan. Her father, Vijay Singh, is one of India's top racehorse trainers. She was schooled at La Martiniere and completed her college from Mount Carmel College. She was a contestant at Femina Miss India and Miss Diva 2013. She was also a VJ for Channel V, anchor of Pro Kabaddi League in Star Sports and hosted a show at NDTV Prime. She was a well known face in the modelling industry. On 12th July 2017 Sonika Chauhan 27 Foundation was launched by her parents at Tollygunge Club as a gift and a contribution to Sonika Chauhan on her birthday. 'Sonika Chauhan 27 Foundation' will take forward the legacy of Sonika Simone Singh Chauhan by touching the lives of young people, without any discrimination of caste, creed or religion. [1][2]
Death
On 29th April 2017 at 3.30 am Sonika and her friend Vikram Chatterjee[3] an actor were driving back home from a party. They met with an accident at rashbehari near Lake mall. Both were taken to the hospital where Sonika was brought in a critical state[4]. Her treatment did start but she couldn't survive and died after 40 to 45 minutes after the accident. Sonika's friend Vikram was treated at Ruby General Hospital and was later discharged on 4th May 2017. On 2nd May 2017, Sonika's mass service was held at St.Thomas Church, Kolkata after that she was buried at Lower Circular Road Cemetery.[5][6]
Career
Sonika started her modelling career at a very young age. She participated in Femina Miss India and Miss Diva 2013 and was one of the finalist. She was a VJ for Channel V and a popular TV Host for Pro Kabbadi League. She also hosted a popular travel show in NDTV Prime. Sonika was one of the famous faces in the modelling industry and achieved a lot of fame in a short span of time. Apart from modelling, she was a fitness enthusiast. Sonika was very much fond of sports and fitness.
