Smail Prevljak (born 10 May 1995) is a Bosnian professional footballer who plays as a forward for Austrian club Mattersburg and the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team.

Club career

Early career

As a youth, he played for Igman Konjic and RB Leipzig. He was part of the RB Leipzig team that achieved promotion to the Under 19 Bundesliga for the 2014–15 season.[2]

RB Leipzig

After impressing in pre-season, he was signed for a two-year contract by RB Leipzig on 1 July 2014 alongside former youth teammate Patrick Strauß.[2] He made his professional debut on 2 August 2014, in a 0–0 draw against VfR Aalen.[3]

Red Bull Salzburg

He was loaned to Red Bull Salzburg in August 2014, before directly being loaned out to Liefering for the 2014–15 season.[4] He managed though to make a debut for them in November 2014, in a match against Altach.[5] His move to Red Bull Salzburg was made permanent for the 2015–16 season.[6] He scored his first goal against Austria Wien on 23 August 2015.[7] Prevljak tore his anterior cruciate ligament in April 2016.[8]

Liefering

On 1 September 2014, he was loaned out to Liefering.[4] He made his debut in a 5–2 loss against Austria Lustenau on 26 September 2014.[9] He scored his first goal for the club, in a 4–1 win against Wacker Innsbruck on 3 October 2014.[10] On 27 May 2015, Prevljak was voted the best young player of the season in the Erste Liga.[11]

Mattersburg

Prevljak was loaned to Mattersburg in June 2017.[12] He scored on his debut in a cup game, which Mattersburg won 6–1 against Saalfelden.[13] He also scored on his league debut, in a 2–2 draw against Rapid Wien.[14]

International career

Prevljak made his debut for Bosnia and Herzegovina under-21 on 27 March 2015 in a friendly match against the United States under-23 team in Tuzla.[15]
