Skipworth & Turner were a male post-disco duo, consisting of Rodney Skipworth and Phil Turner.[1]
Overview
Rodney Skipworth (from Syracuse, New York) and Phil Turner (from Memphis, Tennessee) formed a music partnership in late 1984. They signed a contract with the 4th & Broadway record label and broke out as Skipworth & Turner. Their biggest hit came in 1985, when they went to No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart with "Thinking About Your Love." The track reached No. 24 in the UK Singles Chart, and a further release, "Make It Last" peaked at No. 60 in the same chart in January 1989. Their 1985 debut studio album was suitably named after their moniker. [1]
In 1986, they released the single "Can't Give Her Up", which proved to be successful, peaking at No.7 on the Dance chart. They released their second studio album Harlem Nights, on the 4th & Broadway label in 1989. Their final single was "I Shoulda Been Good". The duo disbanded in 1991; a greatest hits compilation was issued in 1992 by Unidisc.
