Simon O. Sinek (born October 9, 1973) is a British/American author, motivational speaker and marketing consultant.[1] He is the author of four books including the 2009 best seller Start With Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action (2009).[1]

Early life and education

Sinek was born in Wimbledon, England and as a child lived in Johannesburg, London and Hong Kong before settling in the United States. He graduated from Northern Valley Regional High School at Demarest in 1991.[2] He studied law at London's City University and received a BA in cultural anthropology from Brandeis University.[3]

Career

Sinek began his career at the New York ad agencies Euro RSCG and Ogilvy & Mather.[3] He later launched his own business, Sinek Partners.[3] His talk How Great Leaders Inspire Action is listed as the third most popular TED presentation of all time.[4][5] In October 2009, he published his book Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action.[6] His second book called, Leaders Eat Last: Why Some Teams Pull Together and Others Don’t appeared on the best seller lists of the Wall Street Journal and The New York Times.[3] His third book is called Together Is Better: A Little Book of Inspiration.[7][5] His fourth and latest book is titled Find Your Why: A Practical Guide for Discovering Purpose for You and Your Team which is due to be published September 2017.[8]

Sinek has taught graduate classes in strategic communication at Columbia University[9] and consults for Disney, Microsoft, Pfizer and the US military.[3]
