Simon Kainzwaldner

Simon Kainzenwaldner (born February 24, 1994) is an Italian luge athlete.[1]

Biography

Kainzenwaldner began his racing career with the Italian national team in the various youth categories, in both the specialties of the men's singles and the men's doubles, paired with Florian Gruber, taking part in the first edition of the Winter Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck in 2012, at which he took apart in all three races scheduled, winning the gold medal in double, coming tenth in the single and fifth in the team competition. In the world junior championships he won a silver medal in doubles at Igls 2014 and two medals in team competitions: gold at Park City in 2013 and bronze in Schonau am Konigssee, 2012 ; also he triumphed in the final standings of the Junior World Cup in the 2013/14 season .

On the International World Cup/olympic level he debuted in the World Cup November 29, 2014, in the opening stage of the 2014-15 Luge World Cup season, getting the fifth place in doubles at Igls and concluding the year in tenth place in the overall ranking in doubles.

He has taken part in three editions of the Luge world championships], in Sigulda 2015, Schonau am Konigssee in 2016 and Igls in 2017 and on all occasions he won the silver medal in the special standings reserved to under 23 .

He and Gruber competed in the 2016-17 Luge World Cup.[2] '
