Siftery is a California-based startup that maintains an exhaustive database of software products and the companies that use them. The company launched in January 2016 and received over 2,500 upvotes on popular product discovery site Product Hunt.[2] In that same year, Siftery received Community Product of the Year award from Product Hunt.[3]
History
Siftery was founded by Vamshi Mokshagundam and Ayan Barua in 2015. Auren Hoffman currently serves as Board Chairman.
Mokshagundam says the idea for Siftery came from his previous company where it had its own issues figuring out what services to use. The company had 15 people, but it employed more than 60 services, he said. He realized that this could easily become very expensive — especially when companies don’t know that they can get discounts or are using services they don’t even need.[4]
The company announced a $4M seed round fundraise in February 2016.[5] Investors include Felicis Ventures, Founders Fund, and Venrock.[6]
Features
Siftery started out as a database of sorts where companies list their software stacks and has since then added functionality such as market intelligence and a software recommendation engine.[7][8]
In January 2017, Siftery launched "Trending Products", which is a real-time discovery tool for finding the hottest B2B software.[9] Products are ranked based on the number of users who have recommended the product in the past month.
In March 2017, Siftery introduced " Creator Stories" to showcase up-and-coming products & the stories behind them.[10] Creator Stories are interviews with founders/creators in which they are asked about the problem they are solving, what makes them unique, and the tools they used to build their product/company.
