Shirley Ayorkor Botchway (born 8 February 1963) is a Ghanaian politician. She was appointed by President of Ghana Nana Akuffo-Addo as Minister of Foreign Affairs on 10 January 2017.[1] She is also the Member of Parliament for Anyaa-Sowutuom and once served as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.[2][3] She is a member of the New Patriotic Party.
Early life
Ayorkor Botchway was born in Accra on 8 February 1963. She received an MA (Public Communication) from the University of Westminster in 2002. She also received an MBA (Project Management) from the University of Ghana in 2004.
Cabinet Minister
In May, 2017, President Nana Akufo-Addo named Shirley Botchway as part of nineteen ministers who would form his cabinet.[4] The names of the 19 ministers were submitted the Parliament of Ghana and announced by the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Prof. Mike Ocquaye.[4] As a Cabinet minister, Shirley Botchway is part of the inner circle of the president and is to aid in key decision making activities in the country.[4]
Personal life
Ayorkor Botchway is married with two children. She is a Christian who is an Anglican by denomination.
