Sheikh Shahidul Islam is a former Bangladesh Awami League politician and the Former Minister for Education, Public Works, Youth and Sports. He is also a former Member of Parliament.[2]

Career

In 1975 he headed the Jatiya Chhatra League, the student front, of the BAKSAL government of Bangladesh.[3] Islam was the Minister of Education from January 1989 to May 1990 and from January 1989 to May 1990.[1] Since 2008 he is the secretary general of the Jatiya Party fraction lead by Anwar Hossain Manju.[4][5]

Personal life

His uncle was the first president of Bangladesh Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.[3] He was married to Yasmin.[6]
