Sharlon Romans Emederio Schoop (born April 15, 1987) is a Curaçaoan professional baseball shortstop in the Baltimore Orioles organization.

Career

Schoop was signed by the San Francisco Giants as an undrafted free agent on March 30, 2004. The Baltimore Orioles signed Schoop to a minor league contract on November 21, 2013. His brother, Jonathan Schoop, was the Orioles starting second baseman at the time.

Schoop represented the Netherlands at the 2009 World Baseball Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico and Miami, Florida.[1] He was also named to the Dutch roster for the 2014 France International Baseball Tournament[2] and 2014 European Baseball Championship.

Schoop joined the MLB Orioles on June 21, after the team played a weekend home series against Toronto, then had to fly to Texas for an 8:05 make-up game, before coming back to Baltimore on Tuesday. He was called up "just in case" the team would need him to play. In January 2017, Schoop signed a minor league contract with the Orioles.[3]
