Shared Services Canada

Shared Services Canada is an initiative by the government of Canada to provide information technology services to the various Canadian governmental agencies. It was begun in 2011 to combine services such as email and data storage that were at the time duplicated by each agency, thus realizing cost savings. However, as of 2016, implementation had been slow and cost savings had not yet materialized. In August 2016, Chief Statistician of Canada Wayne Smith resigned to protest the effects of Shared Services Canada on Statistics Canada.[1]
