"Sexy Ida (Part 1)" is a soul blues song written by Tina Turner and released as a single by Ike & Tina Turner in 1974.

Overview

The first recording of "Sexy Ida" was produced by Claude Williams, Gerhard Augustin and Ike Turner at his Inglewood, California facility, Bolic Sound Studio in June 1974 and released as a single the following month by the couple under their professional name, Ike & Tina Turner. As "Nutbush City Limits", the single is also characterized by inventive guitar sounds, a substantial synthesizer solo, and a funky brass section.

Upon its release as a single, the song peaked at #10 on the UK Singles Chart and was a Top 20 hit in several other European countries. "Sexy Ida (Part 1)" proved to be the duo's final significant chart hit after reaching #29 on Billboard Hot Soul Singles and #65 on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks, peaking #87 on last week's position.

"Sexy Ida" was intended to be released on its album "Sweet Rhode Island Red" but was not registered in due time for United Artists Records.
