ScreenWest
Screenwest is Western Australia's screen funding and development organisation, working in partnership with the screen industry to develop, support and promote film, television and digital media production in Western Australia.[1] Screenwest receives funding from the Government of Western Australia and Lotterywest.[2]. On the 1st December 2016, Minister for Culture and Arts John Day MLA announced that Screenwest would transition out of government, and become an independent not-for-profit organisation.[3]. This structural transition was completed on 20th July 2017, formally becoming Screenwest (Australia) Limited. [4]
Screenwest's funding and support programs[5] are designed to:
- Foster the development and production of quality, marketable film and television projects;
- Expand the creative and professional development of Western Australia's film and television program makers; and
- Promote Western Australian screen culture.
After the consolidation of Film and Television Institute and Screenwest[6] support for early career filmmakers transitioned to Screenwest. These grant programs were previously administered by the Film and Television Institute, Northbridge which ceased operations on at the end of financial year 2016/17.
