Scottish Women's Premier League Cup

The Scottish Women's Premier League Cup is a cup competition in Scottish women's football, a competition only open to teams in the Scottish Women's Premier League. There are four rounds, including the final.

The competition was launched in 2002 along with the Scottish Women's Premier League. Since 2009, women's football in Scotland has adopted a summer season which now runs from March to November each year, which is why the competition is now played in a single calendar year.[1]

Format

Up to 2015 eight teams of the twelve Premier League teams are drawn to play in the first round. The four winners and the other four teams then play in the quarter-finals. All matches are played over one leg.[2]

With the Premier League expansion in two divisions now sixteen teams take part in the cup. It's a knock-out tournament from the start.[3]
