Scipio ERP

Scipio ERP is an open source enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and a modern fork of the Apache OFBiz project. The software provides a wide range of business applications and a multichannel e-commerce component.

Overview

SCIPIO ERP is a framework for business processes. It consists of a general purpose framework, business applications and themes, which were built on-top of an integrated Apache Tomcat application server. The framework combines a common data model and business process in a service oriented architecture. The software is distributed as open source under the Apache License 2.0.

Architecture

The service oriented architecture is split into three distinct layers:

• Entity (Database) Layer
• Service (Process) Layer
• View (Presentation) Layer

Whereas each layer in itself works as a container for elements and handles caching & clustering. The SOA aspect of the software is realized by events and actions that are incorporated into the core of each layer.

Frontend-Development incorporates a templating toolkit that capsules modern HTML frameworks, such as Bootstrap (front-end framework) or Foundation (framework).
