Say Hello to Sunshine is the second studio album by American post-hardcore band Finch. It is their last album with bassist Derek Doherty, and their only album with drummer Marc Allen.
Production
This album signalled a sharp departure from the band's last release, What It Is to Burn. Say Hello to Sunshine introduced a harder, gritty sound, with less screaming and a more alternative rock sound when compared to earlier recordings.[2] The album was produced with Jason Cupp (The Kite-Eating Tree, The Valley Arena), who also produced the band's self-titled EP. Cupp was the 3rd producer to work on the album after the band worked on the album over a 2-year period. Originally the band started working with Mark Trombino but due to personal issues, the band felt he wasn't really into it and fired him [3]
Release
Say Hello to Sunshine was released on June 7, 2005. "Bitemarks and Bloodstains" was released to radio on June 21, 2005.[4] On February 20, 2006, Finch announced an indefinite hiatus.[5] The band wanted "Ink" to be released as the first single but the label chose "Bloodstains" as it was the most similar to their previous material. Due to the label disliking the direction of the music on the album the label dumped the album with little to no promotion whatsoever. [6]

The album received mixed reactions. Some were disappointed, having been expecting a similar sound to their previous material, whereas others embraced the change in direction. According to Barcalow, the record label hated the album so much that they wanted to shelve it.[12]
