Sara Harris is a 2015 3M National Teaching Fellow[1] and Professor of Teaching in the department of Earth, Ocean, and Atmospheric Sciences at the University of British Columbia.[2] In 2015, she won the 3M National Teaching Award for her MOOC on climate change.[3]

Biography

Harris obtained her PhD in Oceanography from Oregon State University in 1998.[4] From 1998 to 2005, she served as the chief scientist at the Sea Education Association in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.[5] In this role, she would take students out to sea for six weeks to teach methodologies for collecting oceanographic data as well as navigation and sailing.[6] As a Professor of Teaching at the University of British Columbia, she studies evidence-based science education[7] and how people learn climate science.[8] She currently teaches a MOOC entitled Climate Change: The Science.[9]
