Santragachi Kedarnath Institution (or Santragachi K.N. Institution) is a Bengali medium high secondary school located in Santragachi, Howrah, West Bengal.
History
Santragachi Kedarnath Institution was established on 2 January 1925. The foundation stone was laid by the vice chancellor and professor of Asutosh College, sri Ashutosh Mukherjee on 17 July 1925. It began with 225 students in 6 classrooms.[1]
On 2 January 1926, the class for the ninth standard started with the temporary permission of Calcuta Vishwa Vidyalay, and in 1927, after the completion of tenth standard, the school’s students were sent for board exams the first time. In 1933, Santragachi Kedarnath Institution received its permanent affiliation.[2]
Campus
The school's main buiding is three-storey and contains about 40 classrooms. There are two playgrounds. The main buiding also contains physics laboratories, chemistry laboratories, geography laboratories, and biology laboratories, library, and computer rooms. Beside the bigger field there are two three-storey buildings containing hall and more classrooms. At the end of the ground there is a two-steriod short building that is used for primary section only in the morning.[1]
Students
The school has about 3000 students every year from I-XII. The madhyamik avarage pass percentage is 98.7 % and H.S. pass percentage is 100 %.[1]
Study Curricculam
Upto class X classes are as per the syllabus. With these, extra classes of Spoken English, computer learning and physical training are taken. After class X the classes are divided into Arts, Commerce and Science. [1]

Sports
- The annual sports event takes place containing 75 metre race (V-X), 200 metre race (V-X), marathon, throwing the iron ball (X-XII), Long Jump, kicking the ball into the goalpost (V-IX) and other races (V-IX), such as the spoon ball race, sack race and fruit race. In November- December the annual football competition helds.[1]
- The sport team has built a good reputation in the interschool football compititions in Howrah.
Other Events
- Saraswati Puja is a special event in this school. The school received a best Saraswati puja award in 2015 and 2016[1]
- Rabindrajayanti, The birthday of Netaji, Republic day, Independence Day etc are celebrated with recitations, songs, dramas presented by the students.[1]
- Also parades and rallies, quize compititions, seminers take place in this school.
Awards
The school was best in Saraswati Puja in Howrah for its attractive ceremony in 2016 and 2017. The school won the interschool Football compitition of Howrah in 2013 and 2016. The school won Sera Vidhyalaya Award in 1990 for the Platinum Jubilee Function.[4]
