The Santo Antão North Second Division is a tier-3 regional championship played in Ribeira Grande and Paul (though not listed), Santo Antão Island, Cape Verde. It is organized by the Santo Antão North Regional Football Association (Associação Regional de Futebol de Zona Norte do Santo Antão, ARFZNSA).[1] The winner of the championship plays in the Santo Antão North Premier Division in the following season.
The league are several that have second division, five clubs participate, a club with the most number of points promotes into the regional premier division the following season while the last placed club from the regional premier division releagates into the second division the following season.
The Second Division was formed in around 2011 and consisted of only three clubs and three stages, each club had a bye week for three times, the three stage system was abolished in 2015 and became two stage when it risen to four clubs with Santo Crucifixo competing for the first time and featured six matches, in the 2016/17 season, Torreense will compete for the first time and was to raise the number of matches to eight. Instead as São Pedro Apóstolo and Irmãos Unidos withdrawn due to financial and scheduling concerns, only three teams competes, the three stage system was restored and each has a bye week for three times.
