Sant Jordi Awards

The Sant Jordi Awards (Catalan: Premis Sant Jordi de Cinematografia) are film prizes awarded annually in Barcelona by the Catalonia region of the Spanish television network TVE. They were established in 1957 to encourage Catalan cinema at a time when Catalan language films were banned by the Spanish government under Francisco Franco. They were subsequently extended to all Spanish films.
