Overview
Present geographical structure of Sangam Vihar constituency came into existence in 2008 as a part of the implementation of the recommendations of the Delimitation Commission of India constituted in 2002.[1]
Sangam Vihar is part of South Delhi Lok Sabha constituency along with nine other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely, Bijwasan, Ambedkar Nagar, Chhatarpur, Deoli, Kalkaji, Tughlakabad, Palam, Badarpur and Mehrauli. . Around 1.5 million lived there. There is only one government school for around 5 lakhs people. water supply is from Sonia Vihar and government tube wells. There are various free government dispensaries and 2 Hospitals ( Batra Hospital & Majedia hospital) is with in 1 KM.
It is in a major part of South Delhi and has large areas of forest and unused land connected on the other side with Haryana borders. But still government interactions in this area is very limited. The development of the area has been ignored by mostly all the governments of Delhi in the past. And the present AAP Govt is no exception to it. Ratiya Marg, the main road that connects the area to the Mehrauli Badarpur road is in absolutely miserable state with potholes and no proper covers on the roadside drains it is seriously a struggle to walk or drive on the road. Add to it the routine traffic due to the school buses of the two schools.
