Sandra Nankoma is a Ugandan live and recording Afro-soul and jazz musician and actress.[2] She landed into the music industry when she collaborated with Sylvester Kabombo on a hip hop song, "Fumbiro" in 2009. She later released her hit singles, “Superstar” and "Mercedes".
Career
Sandra started to sing from the age of 2, where she developed a love for singing. At 4 she started doing imitations of Michael Jackson and Whitney Houston. Then at 10 started to do Karaoke competitions at primary school. In high School at the age of 14, she joined Scripture Union fellowship for a grand total of 2 days. She joined the Fellowship choir at her new school, where she quickly became one of the leaders of the scripture Union choir, for another 2 years. In 2009 she went to record her debut first single, which was called Season. It didn’t do too well. She is an almunus of Uganda Christian University Mukono where she got a Bachelors degree in industrial Fine Art and Design. Nankoma shortly became popular in her University among her friends and classmates for the small gigs she did around campus.
Sandra started doing music professionally in 2009 when she when she collaborated with Sylvester Kabombo on a hip hop song, "Fumbiro". She released her first single titled Superstar. She has since recorded a number of other songs including Mercedes which was featured on RNW ‘s MySong program on YouTube[3] as well as collaborating with so many other Ugandan musicians including Cyno, Slyvester, Gianni Coletti, DJ PP, Keejay Freak and many others. Sandy Soul has performed on a number of stages in Uganda at festivals like Laba Festival of the Arts,[4] Milege World Music Festival organized by Milege, Pearl Rhythm Festival, Bayimba Festival, World Music Day celebrations[5] and so many others. She has performed alongside big names in the Ugandan music industry such as Suzan Kerunen, Herbert Kinobe, Myco Ouma, Undercover Brothers Ug, Joel Sebunjo, Jemimah Sanyu, Coco Finger and many more
In 2012, she started her own band, performing as Sandy Soul, at corporate events and weddings. In 2013 Nankoma performed at the Bayimba Festival, and 2014 &2015, played at Fete de la Musique with Alliance Francaise. In 2015 she performed as the Zindukar Festival in Arusha, at the celebration of the Integration of East Africa.
In 2016, she performed at that MASA Arts Festival in Ivory Coast, as a part of Afroman Spice, a theatre company in which she is a co-owner, that does plays for social change, with a bias towards women issues. She also in the same year performed at Ubumuntu Festival in Kigali (with Afroman Spice) and at the Kigali Up Festival as Sandy Soul. 2017 she did a music residence in Nairobi called the Soul Train where she got to collaborated with quite a number of East African and South African Artists. Sandy is also an Award Winner of Visa for Creation, from Institute Francais, France where she will be going on a 3 months residence, to collaborate with several international French based artists
Acting career
Sandy Soul has acted in long line of theatre plays and musicals. She is a member of a drama group, Afroman Spice which is made up three women Sandy Soul, Rasheeda Namulondo and Ms Nanda. The group's plays, musicals and poetry are about social issues affecting Uganda and Africa at large.[6] Sandy Soul has performed with the group in Uganda, Kenya and Ivory Coast.[7]

Sandy Soul was born Sandra Nakoma in Mukono district, where she was also raised.
