Sameer Samant

Sameer Deepak Samant (born 18 March 1977), is an Indian writer, poet and lyricist.

Early life

Born in Thane, and residing in Mumbai, Samant studied at Gokhle Highschool, Borivali and completed his graduation from Mithibai College. He pursued his interest in writing and stage performances, along with his career in international banking.

Film career

Sameer began his career under film director Subodh Bhave and Music Director trio, Shankar Ehsan Loy, for the Musical Milestone Movie, Katyar Kaljat Ghusali (film).

In this film Sameer penned 5 songs and some poetic couplets.

Since then,Sameer Samant is writing for various films, serials and plays.

We Chaar

After reading various poems during his college days, slowly Sameer started investing his time in developing his poetry writing talents in both Urdu and Marathi.

In 2011, along with three friends, Manndar Cholkar, Prajakt Deshmukh, Sujeet Shinde, he formed a group and labelled it as ‘We-Chaar’. (It means ‘We Four’ and this Marathi word meaning is ‘A Thought’).

Through We-Chaar, we started a conceptual performance of ‘Poetry recitation’.

To date, We-चार has performed more than 75 stage shows, all over the Maharashtra and even out of the Maharashtra State in Baroda and Goa.

‘We-चार’ received media coverage on various News Channels including Doodrarshan, ETv, and TV9, as well as leading newspapers.

‘We-चार’ performed on FM Radio stations including: 98.3 - Radio Mirchi’ and ’92.7 - Big FM’, as well as at art festivals.
