Sambhaji Kadam (born March 15, 1980) is an Indian professional basketball player. He plays for the Young Cagers who compete at the FIBA Asia Champions Cup and is a member of the India national basketball team.
Kadam started playing basketball at the age of 12-13. He hails from a small town called Miraj in Maharashtra. His father was a wrestler and Kadam himself was a national champion in wrestling at the under-13 level before switching to basketball.[1]
Kadam competed for the India national basketball team at both the FIBA Asia Championship 2007 and FIBA Asia Championship 2009.[2] At the 2007 tournament, he averaged a tournament leading 4 assists per game. In 2009, he averaged a team-leading 3.2 assists per game as the Indian team improved to a 13th-place finish.[3] He had a game best seven assists in the team's 89-73 victory over Uzbekistan for 13th place.[4] He supports Indian Collegiate Athletic Program (ICAP) and is a Basketball mentor for them.
