Sam Stone (born 4 August 1997) is an Australian professional rugby league footballer who currently plays for the Newcastle Knights in the National Rugby League. He plays as a second-row.

Background

Born on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Stone moved to Newcastle, New South Wales at a young age and played his junior rugby league for the Valentine-Eleebana Red Devils and Lakes United. He was then signed by the Newcastle Knights.

Stone is the son of current Huddersfield Giants coach and former Newcastle Knights coach Rick Stone.[2]

Playing career

Early career

In 2015 and 2016, Stone played for the Newcastle Knights' NYC team.[3]

2017

In round 1 of the 2017 NRL season, Stone made his NRL debut for the Knights against the New Zealand Warriors.[4][5] In May, he played for the Junior Kangaroos against the Junior Kiwis.[6]
