Saliva is the debut studio album by American rock band Saliva. It would be their only studio album for over four years until Every Six Seconds would be released in 2001. The album was recorded in 1996 and first released on Rocking Chair Records on May 26, 1997, with a black cover. It was later re-released in 2003 on Red Urban Records with the "face" cover.
In 2002, "800" was used in the film Resident Evil as well as its soundtrack. The new version is credited as being produced by [Bob Marlette] and mixed by John Goodmanson and Steve Thompson. It is unknown if the band re-mixed the original version found on this album or if it was fully re-recorded, as original producers Bill Pappas and Mark Yoshida are not credited on the soundtrack.
"Beg" and "Greater Than Less Than" were re-recorded for their major label debut album Every Six Seconds.
"Pin Cushion" appeared on the soundtrack of the Canadian werewolf horror film Ginger Snaps.
