Saša Kolman (born 1 May 1984) is a Slovenian football manager and a former player. He is currently a Senior Assistant Coach at South Melbourne FC playing in the National Premier Leagues Victoria (NPL).
Manager Career
2014
In May 2014, Kolman was appointed as the coach of the South Melbourne FC Under 20 (Youth) team in the inaugural NPL season.[1] At the conclusion of Round 9 when Kolman took over, the team was languishing in last place on the ladder with just two wins. On the bench for the first time, his team recorded a 4-0 win over Werribee City and would go on record 10 wins from the remaining 17 rounds, turning around a -9 goal difference to +15 and climbing to finish 6th in the league. Kolman continued in his role at South Melbourne coaching the clubs Under 20 (Youth) team as well as the Under 12 team into the next season.
2015
The 2015 season was a success for Kolman and South Melbourne. The Under 20 squad finished in 4th place on the NPL ladder finishing with 11 wins and a goal difference of +15. The team experienced just one loss from their last ten matches.[2]
In mid-2015, Kolman lead a youth team in South Melbourne's first international tour in China. The club was chosen by the organisers to represent Australia, with squad members from our Under 15, Under 16, Under 18 and Under 20 squads all forming part of the South Melbourne team. Kolman's team participate in the 10-day tournament facing representative teams from China, Russia and Germany.[3]
Throughout the year, Kolman undertook the next stage of training and development as a football manager. He completed his UEFA Pro Licence[4].
2016
Kolman spent 2016 as a Youth Coach at Spanish Second Division club Deportivo Alaves.[5][6]
2017
Kolman returned to Lakeside Stadium in, Melbourne Australia in late 2016 to help South Melbourne prepare for the National Premier Leagues Victoria 2017 Season.
He joined the Senior Coaching Team and will be responsible for opposition and match day analysis and assist the club throughout the week also at training. Kolman's strong connection with the Youth Program will mean he is also to be involved developing the Youth Team players who are making the transition to the Senior Team.[7]
