The SMS Charlotte was a German Kreuzerfregatte (Cruiser-Frigate) which was launched on 5 September 1885, slightly prior to the international battleship arms-race which began in the 1890s. The ship participated in the Luders Affair of 1897 and was retired from service in November 1914.
